2026 QB Troy Huhn Elated To Land Offer During Michigan Visit

Finding a replacement for JJ McCarthy is no easy task, but offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell may have identified Michigan’s QB of the future.

Now that Michigan’s coaching staff is firmly in place, the Wolverines have wasted no time in hosting a bevy of recruits on campus. Among that group, 2026 San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills quarterback Troy Huhn visited Michigan last week during his Midwest recruiting swing, and the 6-4, 205-pound passer picked up an offer while in Ann Arbor.

“Michigan was a great visit,” Huhn told Wolverine Digest. “I had a great time. They have a lot to offer, but so do all of the schools. They are all great schools, and I am so glad I am in this situation.”

During his visit, Huhn had the chance to snag some one-on-one time with various members of the U-M staff, which included a preview of what’s in store for the future of Michigan football.

“The coaching staff is just going to keep it going,” Huhn said. “Like they said: if it’s not broken, why fix it? They just had a great year winning the National Championship [and are] looking for more!”

Continuity will be key in Michigan continuing its recent success, and Huhn shows some of the same qualities U-M fans have become accustomed to from the QB position. Huhn delivers the football on time and on the money, often throwing his receivers open with the right amount of pace. These are areas in which JJ McCarthy excelled in, and Huhn now has the opportunity to follow in McCarthy’s footsteps with a scholarship offer from Michigan to his name.

In addition to U-M, Huhn also visited Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State on his Midwest excursion, landing another offer from the latter. Huhn already held a scholarship from the two former programs in ND and PSU. Earlier in March, Huhn was offered by Florida State as well, so he’s a national prospect that the Wolverines will need to vigilantly pursue in order to earn a commitment. But in that regard, Michigan has been making steady progress thanks to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell.

“My relationship with coach Campbell is very close,” Huhn said. “I talk frequently and will definitely be continuing to.”

Last season, Huhn helped energize the Grizzlies to the tune of 1,623 yards and 16 passing touchdowns through half the season, all while completing over 60% of his throws as a sophomore. When combined with his 6-4 frame, Huhn has a high ceiling in terms of his physical tools, and he’s looking to add a bit of polish to his repertoire this offseason.

“I am definitely working on the mental side a lot, trying to perfect those little things and be smarter along with quicker in those decisions,” Huhn said. “Physically I am working on putting on mass and getting stronger along with faster.”

Look for Huhn to continue making a few more recruiting visits before buckling down with football training this Summer. Next weekend, Huhn says he will be visiting Texas and a Clemson visit could soon follow.
