Hondo, thanks for asking Thad Matta about Dawson. I know you have been telling Spartan Nation how well he really was playing, but for some reason his haters are loud. How do you think his game translates to the NBA? Jack White

Hi Jack, I have been stunned by the criticism of Dawson from the fans, but to each their own opinion. There is always room in the NBA for guys that will rebound and defend. Look at Dennis Rodman and Dawson is more athletic. Not sure if he gets drafted and he may have to take the Charlie Bell route to Europe first, but I canâ€™t imagine Dawson not having a future at some point in the NBA.

Hondo, I am thinking of taking my family to Chicago for the Big Ten tournament? Any advice? Cole Field

Hi Cole, donâ€™t go to Chicago. Wait until it is back in Indy. Exponentially cheaper in Indy and much better venue and location for the fans. The Big Ten totally ignored the fan experience sending this to Chicago just like they will in D.C. and NYC. Stay home and go next time for considerably less money when it is in Indy and you will have more fun.

Hondo, what do you think about talk and reports that the B1G is considering making freshman ineligible to play sports? Cris T.

First of all, they are floating the idea to get the discussion going around the nation. They will not do it by themselves outside of all the other power conferences. It would be committing competitive suicide. If the other power schools jump in it could happen, but making calls around the nation I donâ€™t see that. B1G would have to go it alone and one thing we know about the B1G is that talk is cheap. Dollars move the radar and with the action committing competitive suicide that would hurt revenue. No way. As I was told by one B1G school athletic administrator yesterday, â€œThis is a leak to make the B1G look like it is at the forefront of the studentâ€™s best interest, but remember we schedule basketball games at 9 PM on our own network all the time. All talk. If they could do it and make more money, it would happen. They canâ€™t, so it wonâ€™t.â€

It was interesting to see you write that Eron Harris is the best player on the team this year. Are they preparing him to play the point next year? Wouldnâ€™t it be great to have a 6' 3" point guard who could both drive to the hoop, hit perimeter jumpers, and limit the 3 point shot from the opposition? Sandy Starks

Hi Sandy, he is working that position exclusively this year as he sits out per NCAA rules. He will get some looks there next year.

Hi Hondo, you're awesome. It perplexes me why my stepson, who is a 3rd generation Walmart-Wolverine (aka Wanabe-Wolverine), continues to root for scUM. My other two kids bleed green and white. It's really putting my parenting skills to the test. Perhaps you, with the help of your readers, can help me come up with reasons why it's better to be a Spartan than a Wolverine? Hi Kerry, he has an amazing group of high quality kids. As people aside from basketball they are some great kids. They love basketball, they listen to him, they are coachable, and he is getting to see them get better. That is rewarding and refreshing after the last few years.
