The #1 team in America is right here in East Lansing and of course we are talking about the Michigan State Spartans and their Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo.

The Spartans kick off the season on November 5 at 9:30 PM in New York. The Spartans will be taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic. No doubt that nation’s attention is already looking at the critical first game of the year heavyweight fight.

Izzo is excited for the season saying, “With the brutal schedule we play early, especially in the first 26 days, I think it will be important to maintain a perspective regardless of wins and losses and what we're really trying to accomplish. We're trying to accomplish get better every day. We're trying to accomplish get better by the end of the season. And that's what we're going to keep our eyes on.”

Izzo also likes what he has in big man Marcus Bingham Jr (MBJ) and said of his off season, “Marcus, he did exactly what we asked him to do this summer. He went from 193 as a freshman to 225. Got a little sick a couple weeks ago and dropped down to 220, but hopefully we can keep him at the 220 to 225, which is a good 25 pounds from where he was, and yet if you're real -- if you're heavy, like Xavier was, and you lose a little weight, they say it's like a chair off the Titanic. Well, this, I don't know what is the opposite because this kid has gone very, very skinny to a much more physical kid. Still in my mind has got 20 pounds to go, but he's really rebounded the ball better, which is a surprise. He's taking contact better, and he's made some progress. So I'm excited for him.”
