Some games are hard to break down and analyze some are easy. Today’s game in the NCAA Tournament here in Minneapolis is the last option as this is a no brainer.

 

The Spartans are playing a poor man’s Memphis team from last season in a very athletic, but undermanned USC Trojan team. The Trojan’s will no doubt watch tape of the Spartans collapse against the Tigers last season and dream of a sweet sixteen birth.

 

The Spartans although deeper and more talented need only to look in the mirror for this game. They should be able to run from the time they get off the bus and force the Trojans into a second half collapse simply because they don’t have the horses in the race.

 

If the Spartans “Play down” as they have numerous times this season, or keep the Trojans in the game due to a lack of production, then things get dicey. Jud has told me before, “You have to get people out of the game if you can before that 10:00 mark in the second half. If you don’t at that time they get a second win and most of all hope.”

 

MSU is the better team and has the better coach. That is not to say that USC isn’t good because they certainly are, this is to say that the Spartan Nation simply has more. If the Spartans avoid “Playing down” and can get a good team performance they will coast in this game.

 

If they struggle that keeps USC in it and in tournament action it is anyone’s game.

 

I say that the Spartans don’t play their best, but pull away in the second half for a 61-53 win. Let’s Go State.
