Spartans sputter and run out of gas at Crisler tonight.

Â
It wasn’t pretty and it certainly wasn’t even a performance worth remembering, and the Spartans fell tonight to their archrival the Michigan Wolverines.

Â
Drew Neitzel had a historic performance simply for making it onto the court, but that was the end of the heroism.Â

Â
I said before the season that if this team made the Big Dance that it would be Izzo’s best performance. Well in my opinion he has made it, and it has been. Tonight MSU did not lose because of Drew being sick, although it certainly didn’t help. MSU lost because it is what it is. At home with the best crowd in the nation they are admirable, but away from the Breslin they are a young team with glaring needs.

Â
I am not being overly critical I am telling the truth. This team, looking ahead to next season is dangerous and I like that. For now they are a nice team, but that is it.

Â
It may not be our longest run, but it was our best by the best coach in the nation. This team is beat. Emotionally and physically in my opinion they are spent. This has been Izzo’s best coaching job and with the virtual loss of no one and the addition of a top five class the future is bright. I just wish we could have gotten the W in Crisler, as a little extra special benefit.

Â
We didn’t, and we are what we are. Am I the only one who can hardly wait for next season already?  The funny thing is that we have the Big Ten tournament and the Big Dance left and isn’t that the magic season? I think we saw the magic all season. We got to see the greatest coach in MSU history conduct is greatest coaching job. At least for now, I know that he doesn’t want this to be his best for very long. That my friends is why you have to love Izzo.
