His Name Might Be Messiah, But You Can Call Spartan 2016 QB Commit Messiah deWeaver, THE BOSS!

Leadership isn’t always a role someone is born into. Sometimes it takes years of learning and perfecting to become a great leader for a sports team.

Messiah deWeaver doesn’t need to learn or perfect anything in terms on leadership; he has started to take steps towards leading MSU before even stepping on campus. deWeaver took time for this exclusive interview with Spartan Nation.

The quarterback from Huber Heights, Ohio already committed to the Spartans, but he hasn’t stopped with his verbal commitment. deWeaver has also been on a barnstorming tour trying to lure other prospects in the class of 2016 to join him. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ENTIRE MSU FOOTBALL 2016 CLASS.

“I just have a lot of people who want to play with me,” he said. “I blessed to have that.”

Whether through social media or interviews deWeaver has been getting the word out to prospects that East Lansing is the place to be.

deWeaver and other prospects have started a twitter account just for players who have committed to MSU for 2016 called “DreamTeam 2016,” which has more than 3,400 followers.

It isn’t only on the field that deWeaver looks to lead, he is enrolling early at MSU in January of 2016 to get a jump-start on the playbook, and earning his degree.

“You can’t play football forever,” he said. “Football has given me a free education to pursue a bachelor’s degree … getting a degree is the best thing you can do.”

deWeaver said he wants to major in business and finance when he gets to campus.

Whether he is studying business or recruiting other player’s one thing has stood out to deWeaver, he is proud to be a Spartan.

“It means everything (to me),” he said. “I absolutely love East Lansing, what they stand for, Mark Dantonio says it’s more about the people than the program, I’m honored to be a part of it.”
