The transfer portal has become a fixture of modern day college athletics. It's changed the way head coaches build their programs, and has changed the way players handle their collegiate careers.

Normally, the transfer portal is not open to players mid-season, but after Michigan State football fired head coach Mel Tucker, an additional 30-day window opened to Spartan players who wished to depart the program. Now that the 2023 season has concluded, undergraduate students will be able to enter the portal during the fall window with opens Dec. 4. Graduate students can enter at any time.

Listed below is every player who has been added by and who has left Michigan State's football program thus far and their current status.

OT Luke Newman, Holy Cross — career stats: 38 games played, starter at left tackle. Multi-time FCS All-American and All-Patriot League selection. One season of eligibility remaining.
