Former Michigan QB Denard Robinson Crashes Car, Arrested For OWI

It's been an embarrassing offseason for Wolverine staff members....

It's been a bad and embarrassing offseason for Michigan Football staff members on the road, as a former assistant coach and a current off-field staffer have each been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated about a month apart.

On Monday, an Ann Arbor police spokesperson stated that former Wolverine star quarterback Denard Robinson was arrested at 3:05 a.m. this morning was arrested for OWI after being involved in a single-car crash in Ann Arbor. According to the Detroit News' Angelique Chengelis, charges against Robinson are pending toxicology results.

In February 2022, Robinson was hired by former Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh as the program's assistant director of player personnel. After Harbaugh left Ann Arbor to take the head coach job with the Los Angeles Chargers, Robinson was retained on staff by current U-M head coach Sherrone Moore.

On March 16, one of Moore's first assistant coach hires — defensive line coach Greg Scruggs — was also arrested for OWI. Scruggs, who came to Ann Arbor from Wisconsin, resigned on March 21.

The Michigan State Spartan Football Spring Green and White Game (Spring Showcase) will be held at the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation, Spartan Stadium, on April 20, 2024, at 2 p.m.
