Palmisano Named CCHA Goaltender of the Week

Sophomore netminder earned two wins against Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State sophomore goaltender Drew Palmisano (Ann Arbor, Mich.) was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week on Monday Nov. 16.Â

Palmisano limited Michigan to two goals on the weekend and backstopped the Spartans to their second shutout of the season at home on Saturday. Palmisano posted a 1.00 GAA and .960 save percentage over the two-game set and stopped 48 of 50 shots. He has helped Michigan State improve to 9-2-1 on the season overall and to first place in the conference standings with a 6-1-1 mark in CCHA games.Â

Over his last six games, Palmisano has posted a 1.30 GAA and .954 save percentage, with two shutouts and a 5-0-1 record. On the season, he ranks 11th nationally in GAA (1.76) and seventh in save percentage (.937). He is also tied for first nationally in goaltender victories (7) and tied for fifth in winning percentage (7-1-1, .833).

The Spartans are tied for fourth nationally in winning percentage (9-2-1, .792), and are the only team in the country with nine victories. MSU’s unbeaten streak has reached seven games, a national best. MSU moved up to No. 6 in the USCHO.com national poll, which was released on Monday.
