Ari Peterson, daughter of Vikings great Adrian Peterson, receives offer from Gophers

Peterson is averaging 11.8 points per game for Providence Academy this season

Ari Peterson, the daughter of former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, has received an offer from the University of Minnesota Gophers women's basketball team.

Peterson confirmed the news Wednesday morning on her Instagram stating.

"After a nice talk with Coach Plitzuweit, I am so blessed and excited to receive my first offer from the University of Minnesota! Go Gophers!" She made clear to hashtag the announcement with a note that she is not committed.

Peterson is an eighth-grader and plays for Providence Academy in the Twin Cities, where she's averaging 11.8 points per game for the 17-3 Lions. Ex-Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway's daughter, Maddyn Greenway, also plays for Providence Academy.

Greenway, a sophomore, is considered one of the top girls basketball recruits in the country in the Class of 2026, per ESPN's HoopGurlz

Providence Academy is a private Catholic school located in Plymouth, Minnesota.

The Gophers are 14-6 overall and 4-5 in Big Ten play in head coach Dawn Pliztuweit's first season in Minnesota. Top scorer Mara Braun was recently sidelined indefinitely with a foot injury that will require surgery.

Minnesota hosts Penn State Wednesday with tip off set for 7 p.m. at Williams Arena.
