Countdown to the Start of Baseball Season
55 Days
Did You Notice?
- Both Jimmy Bell Jr. (17 points, 18 rebounds) and Cameron Matthews (18 points, 11 rebounds) tucked away double-doubles which marked the first time in 2023-24 that Mississippi State has had two players record double-doubles in the same game.
- The 18 rebounds by Bell were the second-most recorded by a SEC player this season.
- The 18 points for Matthews were his second-highest career scoring effort only behind his career-best 19 points against Memphis in the 2021 NIT Championship Game. He's reached double digits in scoring in four of his last five games, and six of his last eight, heading into the holiday break.
- Josh Hubbard saw his run of 10 consecutive games in double figures come to an end. The streak was the longest for a State true freshman since Jamont Gordon finished the 2005-06 campaign on a 12-game run. For the season, Hubbard has notched 178 points which is the fifth-most for a freshman in program history through 12 games and the most since Rickey Brown (1976-77, 243).
- Mississippi State and Florida Atlantic are the only teams in the nation to have six neutral-court victories this season.
Daily Dose of Mike Leach:
“A Christmas Story. I'll try and catch it before the marathon ends. The best one is It's a Wonderful Life, but that's more of an investment. You gotta sit there and take in the whole thing.“
— Mike Leach on favorite Christmas movies to WOAI/KABB in San Antonio.
We’ll Leave You with This…
