Mississippi State baseball (24-23, 6-18) heads down the final stretch of what has been a largely disappointing season based on the standards surrounding the program with a weekend series against LSU (37-10) in Baton Rouge.

The Bulldogs are currently on a six-game losing streak after being swept by both the No. 6-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks and the No. 24-ranked Tennessee Volunteers.

LSU has obviously fared much better as one of the best teams in the nation, ranked at No. 1 across all of college baseball for the better part of the year. The Tigers' latest victory came in a 14-4 run-rule win against Northwestern State -- a bounce back after they lost the series against Auburn the previous weekend.

First pitch between the two teams is set for 7:30 p.m. CT in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday, May 12.
