STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 76-57 at Humphrey Coliseum on Thursday evening.

MSU finished the game with 27 assists, and the ball movement led to multiple double-digit scorers. The Bulldogs finished the game with three people over 15 points. Jerkaila Jordan led the way with 19.

"You know we're just improving as a team every single day. We're fully aware that it could be anybody's night any day," graduate transfer Lauren Park-Lane said.

MSU had gotten off to a slow start in their past two games, but not this time. MSU shot 11-17 in the first quarter, with Jerkaila Jordan and Erynn Barnum leading the way with eight points a piece.

One Bulldog who especially benefitted from the extra ball movement was former Arkansas transfer Erynn Barnum. The 6-2 forward scored 18 points and was coming off a season-high 22 points at Texas A&M.

"Erynn is a beast really," said Jordan, "she is locked in and she is focused."

Jordan also impacted the game in other ways besides scoring. The Louisiana product also racked up four steals and four blocks and was always around the ball on both ends of the court.

Jessika Carter also had an impressive game, with another double-double: 18 points and 12 rebounds.

It was the fifth-straight win for the Bulldogs, who have moved up into a three-way tie for second in the SEC standings with reigning national champion LSU and Tennessee. Even better, though, was that it's another game win which a different player stepped up.

"I keep saying I've got a special group and it has to go all the way from the freshman to the fifth years. They all came here for this vision. And this vision is real," head coach Sam Purcell said.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday as they welcome the Florida Gators to Starkville.
