Christian Thatcher Talks Schools Involved and Playing in College With his Brothers

4-star linebacker Christian Thatcher is a highly touted player across the entire country, picking up a plethora of offers over a short period of time. Here's a look into his recruitment before a busy spring begins.

Thatcher ranks as the No. 300 composite player in the country, No. 34 linebacker and No. 5 player in the state of Nevada. Hailing from Las Vegas, he has offers from schools in the area, but also across the map.

He's locked in on a list of schools, including Oregon, Colorado, Washington, USC, Oklahoma and Missouri.

The Washington Huskies have began to peak his interest. He was close with the staff at the University of Arizona, where Jedd Fisch coached. He took the Washington job, and a large portion of his staff followed.

"With Jedd Fisch going to Washington, a lot of his staff went with him so we are still really close," Thatcher said.

Hires in the offseason in southern California have also kept Thatcher engaged with the USC Trojans. Former North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz is now the Trojans' linebacker coach, which is an appealing hire.

"Coach Entz came up to visit me this spring, and he let us known that I'm the guy for them," Thatcher said.

Thatcher has been to USC multiple times as it is not far away at all. The proximity is an appealing part of the Trojans pitch to him.

Thatcher has been impressed with Oklahoma and head coach Brent Venables and his program building abilities.

"I think their whole program is pretty linebacker based," Thatcher said.

Thatcher was paid a visit by Oregon head coach Dan Lanning a couple weeks ago, making a 14 hour trip just to see the linebacker.

He's also impressed with the Ducks crop of freshman linebackers for this upcoming season.

They signed four 4-star linebackers, including Kamar Mothudi, Brayden Platt, Kingston Lopa and Dylan Williams. Their stacked linebacker class may limit his opportunity to get on the field right away.

The Colorado Buffaloes have began to peak his interest as well. He has multiple family ties to the Boulder area.

"My dad's family is from Colorado, and they just offered both of my brothers. That means a lot for my whole family because I want to go to college with my brothers," Thatcher said.

Thatcher would love to play with his brothers, as they start to pick up offers as well. His brother Thaddeus, a 2027 quarterback prospect, has picked up multiple offers over the last couple weeks, including Missouri.

The heavy interest from the Tigers is what keeps Thatcher interested with Missouri. It's not often they venture out to offer west coast prospects.

"I know Missouri doesn't often recruit the west coast. Theres very few players from Las Vegas with offers from Missouri, so the interest they show me is impressive," Thatcher said.

Thatcher's mother is also from the Kansas City area, which is a big tie to the school.

He wants to commit before the start of his senior season, with July or August being the goal.

"I just want my whole senior season to focus on getting ready for college and enjoying my last year of high school," Thatcher said.

Expect more from the 4-star linebacker soon on his visits and which teams appear to be in the drivers seat.
