Missouri Tigers vs. New Mexico State Aggies Game Predictions

The Missouri Tigers need a win on Saturday against New Mexico State to get closer to clinching bowl eligibility.

The Missouri Tigers, coming off a loss to the Tennessee Volunteers, will return home to face the New Mexico State Aggies at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Tigers (4-6, 2-5 in SEC) lost to the Volunteers, 66-24, last week, putting them on the brink of missing a bowl game. To reach one, the Tigers will need to beat the Aggies on Saturday and follow that up with a win over Arkansas in the season finale.

New Mexico State (4-5) offers the Tigers a chance to set the stage for a compelling finale with Arkansas. The Aggies are playing as an FBS independent. But, next season the Aggies will join Conference USA.

Here are the predictions for Saturday's game from the staff at Mizzou Sports Talk.

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: The Tigers got stomped against Tennessee and they’ll be looking to get some revenge against anybody. Unfortunately for New Mexico State, the Tigers will come out firing at home and wide receiver Dominic Lovett should have a field day. Missouri 31, New Mexico State 14

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: The Tigers are a better team than their record indicates. And on Senior Day in Columbia, I think Mizzou — behind an elite defense — gets its first blowout win since the season opener to move one step closer to bowl eligibility. Mizzou 41, New Mexico State 16

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: So, Mizzou should win this game. But the Aggies have a vastly improved defense and given how offensively-challenged the Tigers have been all season, I could see the Aggies making this money game a close one. Don’t expect this to be decided until late. Missouri 27, New Mexico State 24

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: Missouri needs two wins to be bowl eligible in 2022. The Tigers get one behind a solid performance from the defense against the Aggies at home. Missouri 31, New Mexico State 3

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: The Missouri offense finally came to life in a blowout loss against Tennessee last weekend, which bodes well for the end of the season. Now, two wins away from bowl eligibility, New Mexico State is the first team in the way of that goal. I think that Missouri gets dominant performances on both sides of the ball to secure its fifth win of the season. Missouri 42, New Mexico State 20
