There's "a good chance" both Chubba Purdy and Logan Smothers will play at quarterback against Minnesota if Casey Thompson isn't ready Saturday, offensive coordinator Mark Whipple said after Wednesday morning's Nebraska football practice.
Thompson took some snaps Wednesday, but his status remains up in the air as he recovers from the elbow injury he suffered during the Huskers' loss last week to Illinois.
Whipple expects the two backups to be better prepared than they were against Illinois. "I feel a lot better than I did when all of a sudden Casey went down," he said.
The playbook for Saturday has been adjusted to account for the two quarterbacks' strengths. "We’ve thrown some things out, added a couple things," Whipple said.
