The Nebraska Cornhuskers are one of many college football teams that have been swarmed with visiting recruits this spring.

One of the most recent prospects to travel to Lincoln for a visit was cornerback Justin Kabera from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, South Dakota. The class of 2025 athlete measures in at around 6 feet and 170 pounds.

Kabera just finished up his Nebraska visit and talked with HuskerMax about how it went.

“My visit was amazing, man,” Kabera said. “I had an amazing time watching practice and seeing how physical the defensive backs get. Looking to show my ability this summer at camp. Facilities are also just as big and nice as I thought.”

During the time he spent in Lincoln, Kabera connected with a specific coach.

“E.J. Barthel for sure,” Kabera said, referring to the assistant coach in charge of Nebraska’s running backs. “He watched my film and really analyzed how I would do at the next level and if I would be a good fit. He definitely believes I can be a good fit especially if I run a good 40 times this summer.”

A player might expect the transition from high school to college ball to just come naturally, but that's not the case with Kabera. He knows hard work and focus on his part will be essential in order to achieve success at the collegiate level.

“The transition from high school to college ball is crazy,” he said. “It’s like a different game and will take lots of focus and intention to transition smoothly.”

He does have plans to return to Lincoln a time or two in the next couple of months.

“Yes, for sure,” he said. “Planning on possibly coming back to campus again before camp season and then competing at camp in June.”
