The Nebraska Cornhuskers took control of the Lincoln Super Regional with an 8-1 win over Oklahoma State on Friday at Bowlin Stadium.

The game, which started on Thursday night at 8 p.m., was suspended due to inclement weather and picked up at 4 p.m. on Friday with one out in the bottom of the first inning.

The final out of the night was recorded around 6 p.m., a whole 22 hours after first pitch.

Junior catcher Jesse Farrell delivered for the NU offense with two hits, including a home run and five runs batted in. Her performance marked the first time a Husker has recorded at least five RBIs in a game since Jordy Frahm against UConn at last year's Regional in Baton Rouge, La.

Ava Kuszak, Kacie Hoffmann, and Bella Bacon accounted for the other three RBIs. Jordy Frahm, Hannah Camenzind, and Kuszak recorded two hits apiece.

“We were here late last night, but then even waking up this morning, I almost feel like it never turned off,” Frahm said postgame. “I texted coach, I was like ‘Man, I'm just so excited to play.’”

Nebraska banged out 12 hits, supporting Frahm in the circle and she was nearly untouchable. She struck out seven in a complete game effort and allowed only one run and five hits.

After the game, Frahm said when the offense is clicking, it helps her in the circle.

“It turns high-stress pitches into competitive pitches,” Frahm said. “As a pitcher, you really feel the difference between those two. “

Oklahoma State went three up, three down in the top of the first on Thursday. The game went into a weather delay with Hannah Coor on first base and Hannah Camenzind up to bat with a 1-0 count. Camenzind singled to left and Farrell crushed a pitch on the outer half out of the ballpark to give Nebraska a 3-0 lead.

Farrell delivered again in the third with a two-RBI single that scored Camenzind and Kuszak.

Sammie Bland followed with a double, moving Farrell to third before scoring on a Hoffmann groundout. Bacon drove in Bland on a groundout to second base and sent Nebraska into the fourth with a 7-0 lead.

The Cowgirls finally got on the scoreboard thanks to a Karli Godwin solo home run in the sixth but the Huskers got it back in the home half of the inning on a Kuszak sacrifice fly to right field.

Being only one win from the Women's College World Series is familiar territory but something about being at home makes it feel a little different.

"You could definitely feel big moments building with the crowd," Frahm said. "I was talking to somebody on staff right before this, and I was like, 'We were in this situation last year after winning game one, and it just feels so much better to be in the same situation at home, knowing we get a show up tomorrow and play in front of our home state fans.'"

The Huskers will take on the Cowgirls again tomorrow, May 23, at 4 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised on ESPN and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network or on B107.3 FM.
