The Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-3) ran themselves into a 6-5 loss to the No. 20 Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon at the Shriner Children's Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.

NU beat No. 12 LSU 6-0 earlier in the day to secure a split.

The contest against Georgia had a little bit of everything working against the Huskers. Nebraska catcher Jesse Farrell was called for obstruction, which allowed a run to score, and two runners were thrown out at home; the second ended the game.

With runners on first and second in the top of the seventh, head coach Rhonda Revelle sent pinch runner Nessa McMillen home on a Carlie Muhlbach pinch-hit single to left field. McMillen was easily thrown out.

McMillen was the tying run and Sammie Bland was waiting on deck.

The obstruction call, combined with two runners thrown out at the plate, proved to be the difference makers for the Bulldogs because the original call was out at home. Because the tournament is not equipped for video review, the umpires got together and overturned the call.

Alexis Jensen started for a second consecutive game and was charged with the loss. She allowed three runs, all earned, on four hits, including one double and two home runs.

The lefty struck out three.

Farrell had a career day at the plate against the Bulldogs, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs batted in and a run scored. Kacie Hoffmann was the only other Huskers to have record multiple hits in the loss.

The transfer catcher from UNLV is leading the team with four doubles and three home runs on the year. She is also tied with Frahm and Hannah Camenzind for the lead with six RBIs.

UGA raced out to a 1-0 lead on a solo home run from Kiersten Roose to lead off the bottom of the first. Emily Digby extended the score to 3-0 with a two-run shot in the second.

The Huskers scored twice in the top of the third. Lauren Camenzind singled to lead off the frame, Hannah Camenzind walked, and Farrell doubled to left field, scoring Lauren Camenzind. Ava Kuszak singled to score Hannah Camenzind, and Farrell was thrown out at home to end the threat.

Junior Kylee Magee entered the game for Jensen and the early struggles continued. She gave up three runs, one earned, on a walk and three hits. The right-hander also struck out two in her lone inning of work.

Nebraska added one run in fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Bland singled and scored on a pinch hit sacrifice fly from Malia Thoms, making the score 6-3.

Farrell cut the deficit to two on a solo home run in the fifth, her third of the season.

Frahm triples in the seventh, and scored on an RBI-single by Hannah Camenzind to pull within one.

Hannah Camenzind finished the game in the circle for NU only allowed two hits in 3.0 innings of work.

Alexis Jensen, Jordy Frahm Combine to Shutout LSU

Nebraska handed LSU its first loss of the season in dominant fashion.

Freshman Alexis Jensen earned the win in the circle, tossing 4.0 innings of one-hit softball and seven strikeouts. She retired the first 10 LSU batters consecutively before allowing a single to Sierra Daniel.

Senior Jordy Frahm pitched the final 3.0 innings, allowing five hits and striking out four.

Frahm paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Lauren Camenzind was the only Husker to score twice in the contest.

Jesse Farrell, Hannah Camenzind, and Sammie Bland all doubled while Ava Kuszak, Lauren Camenzind, and Emmerson Cope each contributed with singles.

Nebraska jumped on the board early when Hannah Camenzind singled in the top of the third. Farrell doubled to score her and give the Huskers a 1-0 lead.

The Huskers took advantage of a couple LSU miscues in the fourth which led to four runs. LSU finished the game with three errors.

Bland put the exclamation point on the victory when she scored on a Frahm single.
