Introducing The New Irish Maven Contributors

Introducing new staff members at Irish Maven
Matt Cashore, USA TODAY Sports

Irish Maven hasn't even been live for a week and we have already seen tremendous growth! I am looking forward to building our community and staff.

With that in mind, I'm excited to announce three new contributors to Irish Maven!

Brian Smith, Recruiting Contributor

Brian is a recruiting diehard that I've known for over a decade. He's done work for me in the past at my previous stop, including covering the Under Armour All-American Game a couple of years ago. In his free time he goes to high school football games, follows the day-to-day of recruiting and consumes camp/combine results.

Now I am going to have him take that knowledge and share it with Irish Maven followers! Brian is going to help me cover recruiting for Irish Maven. He'll do stories about recruits, go to games, provide analysis and help me cover the All-Star games among other things.

Sean Cameron, Staff Writer

Sean has been a high school football coach, journalist and pop culture critic, as well as the father of two D1 football players. I have known Sean for a long time and have always valued his opinions on Notre Dame football. When I think I might be wrong on something, or need to be challenged I reach out to him.

He's a great writer and I look forward to him being able to share those opinions with all of you!

Sean is going to write a weekly column for Irish Maven and will bring an entertaining and informed perspective to our followers! He has a strong football mind and a passion for Notre Dame and the game at large, and that's where his columns will focus.

Mark Machiedo, Staff Numbers Guru

Mark is a self-described "lifelong Notre Dame football obsessive" that has been a long-time poster on various message boards. Some of you will know him as FunkDoctorSpock. I love how Mark looks at the game and his passion not only for Notre Dame, but numbers and trends.

In fact, I've written at least a half dozen articles based on numbers discussions we've had. So instead of him giving me great ideas and letting me get the credit, I wanted him to come to Irish Maven and share his knowledge with all of you!

His weekly column will look to give better context to where the Irish stand in the college football landscape. He wrote to me, "I believe the crazy things like fun and enjoyment should be a part of a fan's experience." I agree, and he's going to bring that!

You can follow Mark at @FunkDrSpock1975

Brian has already started posting his recruiting thoughts on the Community board at Irish Maven. Sean and Mark will post their first columns next week. What better week to start than Southern Cal week!
