Texas Wide Receiver Kaydon Finley Enjoys "Great" Notre Dame Visit

Notre Dame impressed 2026 Texas wide receiver Kaydon Finley during his recent visit

On Tuesday, 2026 Aledo (Texas) High School wide receiver Kaydon Finley made the trip to Notre Dame to check out spring practice. A part of that visit, the Texas star also got the chance to meet with the coaches, check out campus and evaluate his fit with the program.

It actually wasn’t Finley's first trip to campus. His aunt actually graduated from Notre Dame and he had made it out to her graduation in the past. This was, however, his first time as a prospective student athlete. His return did not disappoint.

"The visit went great,” Finley told Irish Breakdown. "It was my second time on campus, but first time as a recruit. I really enjoyed seeing the campus, talking with the coaches and checking out the practice. It was all great.”

During the practice, Finley got to see the offensive coaching staff in action. They impressed the star pass catcher, receiving some very high praise.

"I really like Coach (Mike) Brown,” Finley explained. "He has the wide receivers playing fast. You could see him really teaching and the players were really reacting well to him. Coach (Mike) Denbrock really brought some energy over with him from LSU. He has the wide receivers really excited to be a part of the offense. I really, really like him. He’s the kind of coach an offensive player wants to play for.”

As one of the top wide receivers in the 2026 class, the competition is going to be steep for Finley. He also has a couple visits set over the next few weeks, including Texas (April 20th) and TCU (April 27th). It’s too early to establish leaders but the Irish program is certainly standing out right now.

"It’s early in the process but Notre Dame is definitely sticking out,” he explained. "They’re a great program, bring a lot both on and off the field. I’m pumped to be able to keep growing our relationship. They are definitely a school I’m excited about.”

Finley is considered a four-star and top 100 national recruit by On3, 247Sports and Rivals, the three major platforms who have ranked him thus far. He currently sits as the No. 68, No. 73 and No. 60 overall player respectively. Each platform also has Finley ranked as a top ten overall player in Texas, a state that has become a much larger priority under Marcus Freeman.

It’s no surprise that Finley already holds an elite offer list. Some of the top schools who have offered the Texas native include Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Washington, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Houston, Pittsburgh, Baylor, Cal and SMU among others.

Aledo is an outstanding program in the state of Texas. Despite playing on the 16-0 state champions, Finley made his presence felt as a sophomore. In 13 games played, the 6-2, 195-pound pass catcher hauled in 39 receptions for 616 yards and six touchdowns.
