Former Ohio State DE Zach Harrison Signs Rookie Deal With Atlanta Falcons

Former Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Zach Harrison totaled 106 tackles, 25.5 for loss and 13 sacks in his four-year college career.

Atlanta Falcons defensive end Zach Harrison became the fourth former Ohio State Buckeye to put pen to paper for the first time in the NFL this offseason.

Harrison signed his rookie contract with the Falcons, the team announced Tuesday, after he was selected with the No. 75 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The exact details of Harrison's rookie contract have not been announced.

Harrison, who will wear No. 96 with the Falcons, was named the Dirty Birds' best draft pick by CBS Sports analyst Chris Trapasso.

"Crazy, long thick, advanced rusher and has to get stronger. Best football in front of him. Need filled," Trapasso wrote.

Harrison provides a combination of length with 36 3/8-inch arms and nearly an 87-inch wing span as well as athleticism, tying for the second-longest broad jump of any participant at Ohio State's Pro Day on March 22.

"Obviously, (he's still) kind of coming into his own," Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith said. "Still pretty young, but there's not the pressure on him right away."

Other Buckeyes who have signed their rookie deals this offseason are wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and center Luke Wypler.

Johnson's signing with the Arizona Cardinals was the first of any former Buckeye and Smith-Njigba followed shortly thereafter on May 11. Wypler signed with the Cleveland Browns Friday.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Browns tackle Dawand Jones still have yet to sign their rookie deals.
