The Seattle Seahawks have officially signed former Ohio State star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to his rookie deal, according to reports.

The Seahawks selected Smith-Njigba with the No. 20 overall pick in last month's NFL Draft, making him the first wideout taken in the class.

With the Seahawks, Smith-Njigba now comes in as an immediate difference-maker and will join add to a talented wide receiver corps alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

“I’m super excited,” Smith-Njigba said after the draft. “I’m a big fan of those guys, and for me to be in that room, I know how I am, and that is just going to push me to compete even harder and find my way amongst those guys. I am looking forward to lining up next to them.”

Last season with the Buckeyes, Smith-Njigba missed the majority of last season, making just five catches for 43 yards in three games before being knocked out for the rest of the year with an injury.

However, in 2021 Smith-Njigba was arguably the best wide receiver in the country,  catching 95 passes for 1,606 yards and nine scores - 15 catches, 347 yards, and three scores of which came in the Rose Bowl win against Utah.

Now, he takes those talents to Seattle, where he has a chance to become the next great Ohio State wide receiver at the NFL level, where he would join Chris Carter, Santonio Holmes, Joey Galloway, Terry Glenn, Ted Ginn Jr., Michael Jenkins, Michael Thomas, and Terry McLaurin. Not to mention Noah Brown, Parris Campbell, and Curtis Samuel, as well as the rising stars of Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
