Ohio State WR Carnell Tate Signs with NFL Agency to Pursue NIL Deals
Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Carnell Tate is on a roll in just his first few weeks of his freshman spring camp.
He lost his Black Stripe March 25 — signifying he earned his spot as a Buckeye — and Thursday he announced he has signed with Rosenhaus Sports Representation for NIL deal opportunities.
Rosenhaus Sports Representation, led by CEO and founder Drew Rosenhaus, has negotiated over 1,100 football contracts worth over $8 billion since 2004, according to its website. Rosenhaus' current NFL clients — including former Buckeyes Jerome Baker, Chris Olave, Andrew Norwell and Malik Harrison as well as Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill — are set to make a combined $117 million in 2023, the most of any current NFL agent.
Tate has turned heads in spring practice, making acrobatic contested catches while continuing to show he was worthy of his five-star denotation as the No. 22 player in the country and the best of the Buckeyes' class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
Offensive coordinator Brian Hartline said March 28 that Tate has come in and "handled his business off the field" as well as on it.
"I think he has all straight A's right now," Hartline said. "He's never missed a workout. He's always on time. He's doing his job on the field. I think the combination of all that, it was well deserved."
Hartline said the receiver room is "a good six, seven deep" in spring practice.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, Julian Fleming, Jayden Ballard and Xavier Johnson are projected to have the most significant roles at the position, but Tate is certainly knocking on the door to earn some playing time this fall when the Buckeyes turn to their second- and third-string units.
