Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Breaks Buckeyes 100-Yard Receiving Game Record

Marvin Harrison Jr. has become the top receiver in program history with another 100-yard afternoon.

Marvin Harrison Jr. didn't watch his team win on Saturday, but he did make Ohio State Buckeyes history.

A 12-yard catch in the fourth quarter, Harrison surpassed David Boston for the most 100-yard receiving games in program history with 15. Harrison finished with five catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in a 30-24 loss against Michigan at Michigan Stadium.

A prime candidate for the Heisman, Harrison posted eight games over the triple digits this season. Last year, he had seven 100-yard games en route to an 11-2 season.

While Harrison has yet to decide what his future holds in Columbus, it's clear the NFL will be his next destination. Scouts believe the 6-4 junior, and son of Hall of Fame pass-catcher Marvin Harrison will be a top-five pick in April's draft, and could even be the most polished NFL receiver prospect to date.

Should Saturday mark the end of his time with the Buckeyes, Harrison will finish his Ohio State career ranked sixth all-time in receiving yards with 2,613. Only Michael Jenkins (2,898), Boston (2,855), Gary Williams (2,792), Cris Carter (2,725) and Chris Olave (2,711) have totaled more yards during their time in Columbus.

While the No. 2 Buckeyes (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) kept things close, unlike in years past, the sting still resides. Barring improbable chaos in conference championship weekend, Ohio State likely won't be fighting for a national championship in what will be the final year of a four-team playoff.

"We know what this game means to so many people, and so to come up short is certainly crushing," Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said after the game. "Not only because you invest your whole year in it, at Ohio State, what this game means and so, there's a locker room in there that's devastated. It wasn't a lack of effort, but again, we didn't win the rushing yards, we didn't win the turnover battle, so you're not going to win this game."

Day now is 1-3 all-time in one of college football's best rivalries, but only 1-2 against Jim Harbaugh. Sherrone Moore served as head coach in place of Harbaugh, who was at home serving this three-game suspension for the sign-stealing scandal.

The Buckeyes will await to find out where they will play in the bowl game during the selection show next Sunday. Harrison, however, could elect to opt out and begin preparing for the draft.
