Ex Buckeye Maurice Clarett's Ohio State Legacy Continues With Daughter's Commitment

Maurice Clarett spent one season with the Buckeyes during their 2002 title run, and now, his daughter, Jayden, is set to continue his legacy at Ohio State.

Controversy is a word that Ohio State Buckeyes fans might synonymize with former running back Maurice Clarett.

His name headlined the media in the wrong ways following his dismissal from the program, but while his Buckeye legacy was cut short, he did play a pivotal role for his team during the 2002 season

As a freshman, Clarett earned the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year distinction and racked up over 1,300 all-purpose yards on 222 carries. He tallied 18 total touchdowns in the process, which was enough to place him in the top 10 for all running backs that season.

Now, years later, his daughter is set to be a Buckeye herself, continuing on the Clarett legacy at Ohio State.

Clarrett's daughter, Jayden, attended Columbus School for Girls, and is set to graduate early — an accomplishment she's been after for most of her life.

"When I was little and told that I would graduate at 16, I never really thought anything of it," she said. "Now that it is happening, I see how cool it is!"

Since Maurice Clarett's departure from Ohio State, he has been invited back on numerous occasions as the university commemorated the 2002 title-winning team.

He and his teammates remain permanent pieces of Buckeye history, as the team has only one once more following that season. Despite not being able to break through, however, coach Ryan Day and company are continuing to look for their best chance of success.

And come next year, Jayden Clarett could be next in line to experience an Ohio State championship in Columbus.
