Ohio State WR Caleb Burton Hurt in First Spring Practice

Ohio State Buckeyes four-star wide receiver Caleb Burton did not see action in 2022 and was looking to take a jump in his second year in Columbus.

The Ohio State Buckeyes' unavailability report had nine names listed on it, including wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Julian Fleming.

However, at least one more name might be added to that list after Ohio State's initial spring practice.

Quarterback Devin Brown said he thought wide receiver Caleb Burton "got hurt" Tuesday. Brown said he didn't know the extent of the injury but that Burton "heard something pop."

The former four-star wide receiver and No. 71 recruit in the class of 2022 was looking to make the leap between year one and year two through more playing time.

Burton was the lone wide receiver of last season's four scholarship freshmen to not see playing time last season, as Kaleb Brown and Kojo Antwi both played 27 snaps and Kyion Grayes played 13.

According to the spring practice roster, the Austin, TX. native added six pounds in the offseason, now listed at 5-11, 175 pounds.

The Lake Travis High School product lost his black stripe in December 2022, signifying that he officially became a Buckeye.

Burton said in February 2022 that playing at Ohio State is "a blessing" and that he wants to be known as somebody who "always gives good effort" and "makes plays."

"Definitely still chasing dreams," Burton said. "I got stuff to do here and I got stuff do after this hopefully. Sometimes you just sit back, like last night I just sat back right before I went to bed, I'm just thinking about all this like it's really a blessing."
