Commit Jeremiah Smith Reveals Why He Told Buckeyes Fans to 'Chill Out'

Two weeks ago, Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith sent out two tweets that sent fans of multiple college football programs into a frenzy.

On Feb. 23, Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith sent out a one-word tweet: "Wow."

Fans reacted in his replies with some Ohio State fans curious as to what he meant with fans of other schools like the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes welcoming the No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2024 "home."

Two hours and 26 minutes later, Smith sent another tweet.

Once again there was a flurry of confusion in Smith's Twitter replies, but he told BuckeyesNow the reasoning behind his original tweet was about former Florida wide receivers coach Keary Colbert taking the same role with the Denver Broncos.

"I reacted to the Florida receiver coach. I mean, he took the job at the Denver Broncos," Smith said. "I forgot what I tweeted, I was like, 'Wow.' Then all them just started coming at me, so I said, 'Chill out,' because I was getting mentioned and all this stuff, and I was like, 'Chill.'"

Smith became the third Ohio State class of 2024 commit Dec. 14, 2022, joining four stars athlete Garrett Stover and interior offensive lineman Ian Moore.

Ohio State is currently No. 3 in On3 class of 2024 team rankings.
