OU Softball: Former Oklahoma Star Set to Join Houston Coaching Staff

Patty Gasso will have a spot to fill on her coaching staff headed into 2024.
Extra Inning Softball’s Justin McLeod reported former Oklahoma pitcher Hope Trautwein will join Houston’s coaching staff.
Trautwein transferred to OU in 2022 after starring for North Texas, where she helped guide the Sooners to a national title.
She was named to the 2022 Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team, capping off a season where she finished with the second-highest ERA in the country, an outstanding 0.77 mark.
Trautwein filled a veteran role on the pitching staff, logging 126 2/3 innings and posting a 22-1 record, striking out 157 batters while allowing only 48 walks.
After finishing her playing career in Norman, Trautwein joined Gasso’s coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2023.
Now she’ll head to Houston to join the Cougars’ coaching staff as the program adjusts to its first season in the Big 12 in 2024.
