NORMAN — Kelly Maxwell ensured there would be no drama in Oklahoma’s second game at Love’s Field.

Shortly after walking off Miami (OH) in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Sooners cruised.

Maxwell shut out the Liberty Flames, firing seven strikeouts as OU won 8-0 in five innings.

Oklahoma extended the program’s record winning streak to 69 games, moving to 16-0 on the year and dropping Liberty to 8-8.

Kasidi Pickering is loving Oklahoma’s new ballpark.

The true freshman broke the deadlock with her second home run of the day, another no doubter on a rope straight into the right field bleachers.

OU’s budding star already has three home runs in the young season, and she flashed a big smile as she rounded first base to put her team up 1-0 in the second inning.

Maxwell made quick work of the Liberty lineup, biding time until her offense exploded in the fourth inning.

Catcher Kinzie Hansen led off the proceedings with a double, quickly moving over to third on a wild pitch.

Riley Ludlam bounced the ball back to the shortstop, but Liberty’s Raigan Barrett decided to throw home in an effort to get Hansen. Hansen slid, easily beating the throw, but the ball rolled to the back stop, giving Ludlam plenty of time to advance to second.

Back-to-back wild pitches was enough to bring Ludlam home, putting OU up 3-0.

Cydney Sanders’ RBI-single added another run to the tally before Jayda Coleman’s check swing drifted to the warning track, bringing home Alynah Torres to push the lead to 5-0.

Alyssa Brito feigned bunt, but she pulled the bat back and Liberty catcher Sierra Kersten missed the ball.

Aware of the mistake, Rylie Boone took off down the line, sliding in home to cap off the five-run frame.

Torres ended the night with a two-RBI double, capping off the dominant performance.

Maxwell allowed no walks, in her complete five inning performance.

The Sooners will return to action for another pair of games on Saturday.

Up first, OU will take on Louisiana at 11 a.m. before another date with Liberty at 1:45 p.m.
