OU Softball: Oklahoma Debuts Atop Another Preseason Poll

Preseason recognition continues to roll in for Patty Gasso's Oklahoma Sooners.
After notching the program's third consecutive national title last June, OU enters the year as the No. 1 team in the country in the ESPN.com/USA Softball preseason ranking.

The Sooners were already named to the top spot by both Softball America and D1 Softball.
Oklahoma leads the pack in what is projected to be a strong year for the Big 12, as Texas was ranked at No. 5, Oklahoma State was rated No. 11 and Baylor checked in at No. 19.
In the non-conference, OU will square off against No. 9 Duke, No. 10 Washington and No. 21 Louisiana.
Oklahoma Extends Offer to 5-star 2026 QB Recruit
Plenty of experience returns to Norman as Tiare Jennings, Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen, Nicole May and Rylie Boone look to finish their careers with four straight titles, while Alyssa Brito, Alynah Torres, Cydney Sanders and Kierston Deal also return from the 2023 team.
Gasso also added former Oklahoma State pitcher Kelly Maxwell to the roster via the transfer portal in one of the blockbuster acquisitions of the summer, replacing Jordy Bahl who left the program to play for Nebraska.
OU didn't stop there, also adding pitchers Karlie Keeney and Paytn Monticelli along with catcher Riley Ludlam this offseason.
The 2024 campaign will start on Feb. 8 against Utah Valley at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
