Oklahoma is officially on the board in the transfer portal.

Paytn Monticelli, a young right-hander who played her freshman season at Wisconsin, announced her transfer to OU on Wednesday.

Monticelli led the Badgers with 82 strikeouts last year, posting a 2.71 ERA in 80 total innings pitched.

The Cedarburg, WI, product will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Sooners coach Patty Gasso had a pair of major departures to deal with from her 2023 pitching staff.

Alex Storako graduated and is now playing professionally for the Oklahoma City Spark, and ace Jordy Bahl transferred back home to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Gasso and pitching coach Jennifer Rocha still had a pair of key building blocks for 2024 in veteran Nicole May and young lefty Kierston Deal, but OU needed to add quality through the transfer portal to again build depth in the bullpen.

May pitched 107 2/3 innings last year and Deal threw 27 1/3 innings, but the Sooners will have to replace the 147 1/3 innings across 38 appearances from Bahl and Storako’s 103 2/3 innings in 2024.

Oklahoma also lost backup catcher Sophia Nugent and slugger Jocelyn Erickson to the transfer portal this offseason.
