Jackson Holliday finally got the call on Tuesday.

MLB’s No. 1-ranked prospect will head to the Baltimore Orioles after spending 10 games with the Orioles Triple-A affiliate Norfolk Tides.

Holliday has been on a tear to start this season at Norfolk, batting .333 on the season, with 14 hits, two home runs and nine RBIs.

Last year in the minor leagues, Holliday put up 154 hits, 12 home runs and 75 RBIs in 125 appearances.

Holliday is the son of former MLB player Matt Holliday, who spent 15 seasons in the big leagues and was a seven-time MLB All-Star.

Matt Holliday was with four different teams throughout his career, posting a .299 batting average, with 316 home runs and 1,220 RBIs in his career.

Matt Holliday’s brother is of course Oklahoma State head coach Josh Holliday, who has spent the past 11 seasons as the head coach of the Cowboys.

Jackson Holliday was on track to possibly make the Orioles opening day roster in the start of the 2024 season, but Baltimore optioned him to Triple-A to start the season.

The Orioles are off to a 6-4 start this season after securing 101 wins and an A.L. East Title in the 2023 season.

With Gunnar Henderson at third base for the Orioles, it will be interesting to see whether Jackson Holliday ends up at shortstop or second base.

It is still unclear when Jackson Holliday’s major league debut will be, but he will wear No. 7 for the Baltimore Orioles, which was the same number Matt Holliday wore throughout his major league career.
