STILLWATER -- The early signing period is finally upon us and five-star guard Cade Cunningham is finally a Cowboy. In a group signing ceremony at Montverde Academy, Cade Cunningham inked his intent and officially became Oklahoma State's highest ranked recruit to sign in program history.

Gerald Green committed to play for Oklahoma State back in the class of 2005, and is the highest-ranked player to ever do so with OSU, but he elected to enter the NBA Draft.

The five-star guard chose Oklahoma State over several blue blood programs, including Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and Kansas among others. Before making his decision, Cunningham made official visits to Oklahoma State, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and Washington.

Cunningham is listed as the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2020, just behind center Evan Mobley, who's committed to USC. Cunningham's listed as a 6-6, 215-pound combo guard and is originally out of Arlington, TX. He's currently enrolled at Montverde Academy in Florida finishing his high school career.

Mike Boynton was the first to offer Cunningham back in 2017, while Boynton was still an assistant coach under Brad Underwood. Since then, he's kept that relationship a priority and that perseverance has paid off.

Back in May, Mike Boynton hired Cade's older brother, Cannen as an assistant coach. As soon as the hire was official, everyone just assumed that Oklahoma State was a lock to land Cade. But in his commitment video, he said that his family encouraged him to look at every option as it was his decision. He also said that he was 'this' close to choosing another school, but that blood was thicker than water.

Another huge factor in landing Cunningham was guard Rondel Walker. Walker's a 6-2, 160-pound shooting guard out of Putnam City West in Oklahoma City, and was teammates with Cunningham on Texas Titans, an AAU team in Nike's EYBL circuit.

Cunningham was one of the most productive players in the country. He averaged 25.1 points per game on 56 percent shooting, while recording 6.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.5 blocks per game

The two are very close friends and both competed at a high level over the summer. Walker is set to sign at some point on Wednesday.
