Chuba Hubbard Earns Midseason All-America Status

Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard has been named to the AP Midseason All-America Team

STILLWATER -- It's been a great start to the 2019 season for running back Chuba Hubbard and that's led him to being named to the AP Midseason All-America Team.

He was also named Midseason All-America by The Athletic, CBS Sports, Athlon Sports and Pro Football Focus

Even after the off week, Hubbard currently leads the nation in rushing yards with 1,094, a clear 268 yards over the second place back J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State. He also leads leads the country with 182.3 yards per game and is second in the country in rushing touchdowns with 13.

Something that everyone learned very quickly about Hubbard is just how humble he is. Despite being the best back in the country, none of that matters if the Pokes aren't winning ball games.

"I'm blessed to be in this position, but it's not something I'm concerned about," said Hubbard. "If we are winning games and I'm not doing what I'm doing, I'm fine with that."

The Cowboys have a big task ahead of them with No. 18 Baylor coming to town for Homecoming. The Bears are ranked in the top-40 in total defense and are only allowing on average 113.5 yards per game. Even though the Pokes are averaging 279.0 rushing yards per game, they still have to be mindful of Baylor's ability to stop the ball on the ground.

"They are a great defense that is physical and plays fast," said Hubbard. They will be a great challenge, and we love a good challenge. If we come out and do what we do, we will come out with a win, but it's not going to be easy.

Something else that should help Oklahoma State this weekend is the possibility of having the offensive line back and healthy. The Pokes have been without starting left tackle Dylan Galloway for the past two games and as a result, have had to shuffle the rest of the line around to try and replicate the same type of results.

As of right now, Galloway's listed as the No. 2 left tackle behind Teven Jenkins for Saturday's game, but coach Mike Gundy was optimistic on Monday about Galloway returning.

"He's back; he was practicing with us [Sunday] night," said coach Gundy. "Depending on how he progresses, hopefully we can get him back out there this week."
