STILLWATER -- If you're a college football coach, recruiting never stops. Unless, of course, it's a dead period, but even then they're constantly going over notes, stats and videos looking for the next best thing.

This past weekend as Oklahoma State faced Baylor for Homecoming, cowboy backs coach Jason McEndoo was hard at work trying to recruiting the No. 1 tight end prospect in the 2021 class, Dametrious Crownover.

Not only is he the No. 1 overall tight end prospect, but he also checks in as the No. 75 overall national prospect, and the No. 12 prospect from the Lonestar state in the 2021 class.

Crownover's a 6-6, 235-pound tight end prospect out of Grandview, TX and has received an offer from the who's who of college football: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Texas A&M among others.

Oklahoma State was actually one of the first schools to offer Crownover, as they extended back on February 2, 2019.

Crownover helped Grandview to a 3A state title last season and the Zebras are off to a hot start this season as they're currently 7-0 overall and 3-0 in district play.

This past recruiting class, Oklahoma State signed the No. 6 overall tight end in the country in four-star Grayson Boomer, but Boomer's missing the 2019 season with a torn ACL.

The problem is that other than Boomer, OSU's had some difficulty finding true tight end/cowboy backs out of high school. Going back to the 2018 class, they signed Jake Ross out of NEO, but he never could get healthy and medically retired from football.

Ironically enough, they signed pro-style quarterback Jelani Woods out of Ellenwood, GA before converting him over to cowboy back where he's excelled.

For Oklahoma State, the cowboy back position has had success over the years, but they've done so with walk-ons, or with guys like Woods who they've converted.

Just imagine the type of success they can have on a consistent basis if they're able to land another four-star true tight end such as Crownover.
