This past weekend, a former Oklahoma State star got his chance to shine in the NFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers needed an offensive spark, and they decided to let former Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph receive the start.

In the start, Rudolph threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, completing 17 of his 27 passes thrown. Not only did he act as a game manager, but he won the game for the Steelers, outplaying Joe Burrow.

Ahead of the week, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin explained his start, saying he was hopeful to get some offense going, as they had lost three straight games with their QB1 injured.

It's safe to say Rudolph gave the Steelers the much-needed spark on the offensive side of the ball, as they scored 34 points. Not only did Rudolph prove that he should be the primary backup quarterback on the team, but he earned another week as the starting quarterback.

Now, Kenny Pickett, the Steelers starting quarterback, was supposed to return for the team's next game. Instead, Rudolph is "scheduled to be the quarterback this week," according to Tomlin.

While this is a reward to Rudolph and his ability to go out and win the team's previous game, this also allows Pickett to continue and get back to full form to close out the team's season.

This will be the former Oklahoma State quarterback's 11th career start in the NFL. He spent four years in Stillwater, spanning from 2014 to 2017. He tossed for 13,618 yards in his four seasons, finding the end zone on 92 different occasions and only being intercepted 26 times. This led to Rudolph being a third-round pick by the Steelers in 2018, where he's served as the backup quarterback since.

With Rudolph coming in and winning a big game for the Steelers, one would have to assume he just extended his career as a backup quarterback in the NFL for some time, as he's just 28-years-old.
