One of Oklahoma State’s transfer portal targets visited Stillwater Wednesday.

Indiana transfer Jaylin Lucas posted on Tuesday that he had received an offer from OSU and posted to Instagram on Wednesday that he is on campus. Including footage of OSU’s practice facility and the Barry Sanders statue, Lucas’ visit could be a step toward his commitment.

The former Hoosier running back could be a valuable addition to the Cowboys’ offense after Jaden Nixon’s departure to the transfer portal. Lucas spent two seasons with the Hoosiers after debuting as a true freshman in 2022.

In his 2022 season, Lucas played 11 games and rushed for 271 yards, including the only 100-yard game of his career against Purdue in the final game of the season. But the running back is a multi-threat player, particularly in the return game.

As a freshman, Lucas returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Rutgers and Michigan State, for the most in the country at two. Lucas also had the third of his career in his most recent game against Purdue to end the 2023 season.

With the future of longtime OSU returner Brennan Presley up in the air and Nixon in the portal, adding Lucas could solidify OSU’s returner spot. The former Indiana running back could be a perfect complementary piece to Ollie Gordon II in the backfield.

Playing in all 12 games in 2023, Lucas had another solid rushing season, going for 275 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He was just as productive in the passing game, making 34 catches for 247 yards.

Gaining the second-most scrimmage yards on Indiana this season, Lucas could be an immediate contributor for OSU in 2024. Considering the uncertainty at quarterback next season, having another easy target out of the backfield would be a welcome sight.

Lucas has received offers from several other Power Five schools, including Penn State and Cincinnati. But if the Cowboys can make a good impression on this visit, Kasey Dunn could have another offensive weapon to get involved next season.
