A former Cowboy will soon suit up for a Big 12 rival.

On Monday, former Oklahoma State wide receiver Jaden Bray committed to West Virginia after entering the transfer portal earlier this month. Bray spent three seasons at OSU, helping the team reach two Big 12 Championship Games.

The wide receiver will try to help the Mountaineers do the same. Bray will join one of the Big 12’s surprise teams in 2023, finishing the regular season at 8-4.

Bray had the best season of his college career in 2023, catching 30 passes for 382 yards. He played in 10 games, including a game at WVU, where he caught four passes for 53 yards and had his first touchdown of the season.

Before that, he missed most of the 2022 season, playing only three games and taking a redshirt. Still, he had five catches for 54 yards, all coming against Big 12 opponents.

As a freshman, Bray helped the Cowboys achieve a 12-win season. In 2021, he made 13 receptions and had 250 receiving yards.

He had a couple of big performances, including a 52-yard outing against Baylor in the Big 12 Championship. Bray was also the first OSU player to find the end zone in its Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame.

His numbers at OSU this season would have made him one of WVU’s top receivers. Bray’s 30 receptions would have ranked second, and he would have come in fourth in receiving yards.

For WVU, adding an experienced receiver like Bray is a step in the right direction as Neal Brown tries to lead his team to the top of the conference. Meanwhile, his departure from OSU could open up opportunities for other young receivers or open a spot for another experienced player to transfer in.

Bray will face his former team in 2024, as WVU will come to Stillwater next fall.
