Former Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph has been crucial for the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the NFL season. In the regular season finale, Rudolph completed 18 of his 20 passes in a win over the Baltimore Ravens, keeping the Steelers' playoff hopes alive.

Rudolph started the last three games of the season for the Steelers, which were all wins. On the season, he completed 55 of his 74 passes, throwing for 719 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Even with Kenny Pickett healthy and Mitch Trubisky still rostered, the former third string quarterback is getting the starting nod for the Steelers against the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round.

"At the quarterback position, we will stay with Mason Rudolph," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced.

With the Steelers in major need of an offensive jolt later in the season, Rudolph provided just that. He's been with the team since 2018, yet he's played minimally as the team's backup quarterback.

"We're just simply staying with the hot hand and not disrupting the apple cart," Tomlin continued. "We've been in some tough circumstances. He's delivered, we've delivered and so we will continue in that vein."

The former Cowboys star quarterback is a big-time player, and he's proving that on the biggest stage. As mentioned, he's been with the Steelers since 2018. He's a veteran player who has seen a lot from the sidelines, which is helping as he's leading this Steelers resurgence.

Rudolph spent 2014 to 2017 in Stillwater. He posted 13,618 passing yards and 92 touchdowns to his 26 interceptions over his four seasons while completing 63.2 percent of his passes. He finished No. 7 in the Heisman voting in his final season of college football, too.

The last bit of postseason action Rudolph played in was in 2017 where he shined in the Camping World Bowl for Oklahoma State. He tallied 351 passing yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Rudolph will be able to hand the ball off to another Oklahoma State alum Jaylen Warren, who is the team's backup running back.
