A former Cowboy will be on the move soon.

Former Oklahoma State quarterback Gunnar Gundy is in Stillwater, but that is not expected to be the case for much longer. On Tuesday, OSU coach Mike Gundy said his son was in the lab training this spring before making a decision on where he will play next season.

Gundy has already made a move this offseason but returned to OSU.

After entering the transfer portal in December, Gundy stayed on the roster through the end of the season and even scored a 10-yard rushing touchdown in OSU’s 31-23 Texas Bowl win against Texas A&M. In early January, Gundy committed to Ohio before re-entering the transfer portal a few weeks later.

Gundy is not on OSU’s spring roster and is expected to make a decision on his next team in May. Throughout Gundy’s three seasons in Stillwater, he was never able to make the impact he would have liked but did show flashes of his ability.

A dual-threat quarterback, Gundy was in the middle of OSU’s three-quarterback system early last season. Although he could not beat Alan Bowman and Garret Rangel, Gundy’s numbers were comparable, and his ability to run set him apart.

Gundy played only four times last season, all in nonconference games. He completed 21 of his 34 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown without an interception.

Including another four games in 2022 and one in 2021, Gundy finished his career at OSU with 449 yards passing and another 120 yards on the ground with five total touchdowns.

Although his time at OSU did not work out entirely, he showcased some of his skills and what he can bring to a program. Gundy might not get to contribute to a power conference team, but a group of five team could provide the perfect opportunity for the next chapter of Gundy’s career.
