Four Former OSU Football Players Playing in NFL Conference Championship Games
It's that time of the NFL playoffs. After this weekend, the two competitors in the Super Bowl will be known and the stage will be set for Las Vegas. The Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers or Detroit Lions are the four teams remaining in the playoffs, and three of those teams feature a former Oklahoma State Cowboy.
The Cowboys have plenty of former players spread out across the league, but to have four players set to help their team through the NFL conference championship games is quite impressive.
Here are some Oklahoma State alumni who still have a chance to earn a Super Bowl ring.
Baltimore Ravens: Justice Hill (RB), Tylan Wallace (WR)
This week, John Harbaugh, the Ravens' head coach, was very complimentary of Hill, citing he's a "supremely talented player."
“I’ve told [Justice Hill]; he’s a supremely talented player, but his heart is even bigger,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. “This guy -- he runs so hard. His acceleration and his bursts are right up there at the top of the league."
Hill is likely to be the most impactful player to his team of the four remaining Cowboys in the playoffs. Then there's Tylan Wallace, a former standout Oklahoma State wide receiver. While he doesn't get much opportunity as a receiver, he made a big play in the regular season as a punt returner, winning the Ravens a game in overtime.
Detroit Lions: Malcolm Rodriguez (LB)
Rodriguez hasn't carved a big role in Detroit since being a 2022 draft pick, and they've even experimented with him at fullback. If there's a bigger opportunity for him in the 2024 season, he'll be able to provide a spark to an incredible team.
San Francisco 49ers: Tay Martin (WR)
Martin was signed by the 49ers this season and is a 26-year-old rookie. He's unlikely to get any playing time, but playing with a very, very rounded team gives him a good opportunity to potentially snag a Super Bowl ring this season.
