On Sunday, December 10th Oklahoma State right tackle Jake Springfield announced that he will return for the 2024 season. Springfield is the fourth offensive lineman to announce his return. You can read more about the others here.

What Influenced Jake Springfield's Decision?

When he announced his return, Springfield mentioned OL600 and Pokes With A Purpose, stating that they helped influence him to stay at Oklahoma State. If you are not familiar with it, Pokes With A Purpose is an NIL collective put together for athletes at Oklahoma State to benefit from. You can read more about it on their website here

"I'm very excited to announce that I will be returning for the 2024 season. I'd like to thank OL600 and Pokes With a Purpose for allowing me to be a Cowboy for life. NIL does matter. I hope you keep supporting OL600 and Go Pokes!"

What Does This Mean for Oklahoma State?

Jake Springfield's return is a big one for Oklahoma State. In the 687 snaps he played this season, he only allowed one sack and 13 pressures. He also brings a lot of experience to the table, as over his career Springfield has started 35 games for the Pokes, accounting for the most on the team. He had an excellent season, and he has the chance to have an even better one next year.

Another big positive is the fact that it could help influence running back Ollie Gordon II to return. There's a lot of chemistry there, and when you are looking at a situation where four out of five of your starting offensive linemen from last year are returning, it makes it very difficult to say no to that and leave. Add to that the growing NIL collective, and it is easy to see why there are not many people leaving the program like there was last year.
