Heading into the season, the Big 12 no longer played a round-robin schedule because of the addition of four new teams. Because of this, the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Texas Longhorns didn't meet up in the regular season.

It seemed as if the two teams weren't going to be able to play again before the Longhorns took off to the SEC alongside the Oklahoma Sooners. Well, turns out they do get one final send-off, and that comes in the Big 12 Championship game.

The two teams will face off at 11 a.m. CT in the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. The Longhorns open as 11.5-point favorites over the Cowboys, which is a fair spread, all things considered.

As things currently stand, the Longhorns are the No. 7 team in the College Football Playoff race and are hoping for a boost this Tuesday with the new rankings. They've beat Alabama along with everyone else on their schedule except Oklahoma. The Longhorns have had quite the season and have playoff aspirations.

The Cowboys are in a different position, though. Even the Big 12 title game seemed like a long shot after the team was blown out by South Alabam at home in Week 3.

"It’s amazing what a group of young men and a team can accomplish if they ignore the outside circumstances and grind,” Gundy said of his team.

Overall, Texas is the better team. The Cowboys are fine with that, too. They've played much, much better as an underdog this season than they have as favorites, which has been proven this past two weeks.

The Longhorns will be looking to enhance their playoff resume with a conference championship win, and the Cowboys, frankly, have nothing to lose. It's hard to imagine a blowout in the conference championship game, and it should be relatively close in Arlington, even if the final score doesn't reflect as such.
