Oklahoma State picks up commitment from 2022 offensive lineman

Kelvin Banks out of Summer Creek in Humble, TX announced his commitment to the Pokes Sunday afternoon

STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State has started their 2022 class a little early as offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Summer Creek in Humble, TX announced his commitment to the Pokes. Banks took to Twitter Sunday afternoon to announce the commitment.

"I would first like to start by saying I would not be in this position that I am in without God! I would like to thank my parents for all the time and effort they put in to get me where I need to be also my coaches for pushing me to become the best student athlete I can be. I would like ot thank the schools that believed in my talents. With that being said I am 110% COMMITTED to The Oklahoma State University #GOPOKES #AGTG"

Banks is a 6-4, 285-pounds offensive tackle out of Humble (Summer Creek), TX. Prior to his commitment, Banks held six offers from some pretty prominent programs: Arizona State, Florida State, Houston, Texas and Utah.

He was also in Stillwater this past June on an unofficial visit.

While I am in no way questioning Banks' commitment, with him being in the 2022 class and holding some solid offers, Oklahoma State is going to have a fight on their hands until 2022 signing day.

This is what 247Sports recruiting expert Gabe Brooks had to say about Banks. 

"Banks is strong at the point of attack and uses his phone booth strength to overwhelm high school defenders in one-on-one matchups, especially when he gets to the second level. He owns a big, sturdy base and enough frames in his upper body to continue adding bulk moving forward.

While Banks is projected to tackle at this point in time, he could potentially provide position versatility in the long term. His drive-blocking ability and run game acumen would also fit at a guard spot, if needed."

While the Pokes don't have a commitment in the 2021 class, Charlie Dickey is off to a hot start in 2022 as Banks currently marks the first commitment in the 2022 class for the Pokes and is the third offensive lineman offered in the class.
