Oklahoma State 2020 football commits played very well this past weekend

Since this is the first recruiting article I've done since we launched Oklahoma State Maven/Sports Illustrated, I'd first like to start by saying welcome! The second thing I'd like to say is that these result/follow up articles each week are going to seem like broken records because there's a few guys that week in and week out put up monster numbers.

If you haven't figured out who those guys are yet, I'll tell you: Norco quarterback Shane Illingworth and Bixby receiver/corner Brennan Presley.

Just to give you an idea of the kind of games Illingworth has, through four games this season, he's thrown for 1,584 yards and 22 touchdowns on a 73 percent completion rating.

I understand that high school football is vastly different than college football, but there's only one D1 quarterback who's thrown for more passing yards through four games than Illingworth. Just a fun stat.

Norco - Shane Illingworth

Norco faced Redlands East Valley this past weekend and won by a score of 56-20, moving Norco to 4-0 on the season.

Illingworth completed 10 of 12 passes for 228 yards and five touchdowns. It was actually Illingworth's lowest amount of passing yards in a game this season and he's still averaging 396 yards per game.

Bixby - Brennan Presley & Jordan Reagan

Bixby has started the 2019 season on a tear and that continued last night when they beat Putnam City 72-0. Presley hauled in just three receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns and recorded one tackle. As for Reagan, he recorded one interception.

On the season Presley has recorded 536 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. As for Reagan, he's also recorded three interceptions.

Plainview - Eli Russ

Plainview was on a bye this week. They've started the season 1-1 with a win over Sanger (TX) and a loss to Tuttle. They'll be back in action this coming week as they'll face Purcell in Ardmore.

Waco Connally - Trent Pullen & Korie Black

Connally's also off to a hot start to 2019 as they're 4-0 on the season, with three of the wins coming on the road. This past week, they beat Gatesville (TX) 50-21 and will face Salado (TX) at home this coming week.

Salina Central - Quinton Stewart

Salina Central's got back on track last night with a 17-7 win over Salina South. Central's started the season 1-2 and will be looking to break even against Hutchinson on the road this week.

Notre Dame Prep - Cade Bennett

OL Cade Bennett and Notre Dame Prep out of Scottsdale, AZ moved to 5-0 on the season Friday night with a 35-14 win over Desert Mountain (AZ). The win was also Notre Dame Prep's first conference win of the season. They'll face Cactus Shadows this coming also. Also, I think Arizona might have some of the coolest high school names.

DeSoto - Jabbar Muhammad

DeSoto remains one of the hottest teams in Texas as they steamrolled the Waxahachie Indians on Friday 55-12. Muhammad, a corner for the Eagles and cousin to current OSU corner A.J. Green, might go down as one of the best corners in DeSoto's long history of great defensive backs.

Norman - Cole Thompson

Norman was on a bye this week. Norman will be back in action this coming Friday against Yukon. Thompson has started his senior season just about as well as one could've hope for as he's recorded 19 total tackles through two games, including two sacks.

Choctaw - Jeff Roberson

Choctaw's perfect start to the season ended this past weekend as they fell to Putnam City North 30-13. They'll face Del City at home this Friday night.

Denton Guyer - Grant Mahon

Guyer was on a bye this week. The John Walsh led Guyer Wildcats are off to a 3-0 start to the 2019 season and will be back in action this coming Thursday night against Keller Central at home. Cowboy commit Grant Mahon has recorded one tackle on the season.

Bishop Kelley - Zach Middleton

Bishop Kelley is off to a slow start to the season as they're currently 1-2. In a phone interview with Cowboy commit Zach Middleton on Saturday, the last time they started the season like this they made a deep run into the playoffs. The Comets will host Hale this Friday night and Middleton, who's missed the start of the season with a knee injury, could possibly see some action.

Father Tolton - Monroe Mills

Mills is missing his senior season due to a torn ACL. As for Father Tolton, they're not off to a great start either as they're 0-4 on the season. They'll travel to Cardinal Ritter College Prep this coming Friday.
