A staple of Oklahoma State’s offense is looking to go pro.

Fullback Braden Cassity announced on Monday via social media that he is declaring for the NFL Draft. Cassity is hoping to join a long list of former Cowboys who have made the jump to the NFL.

Cassity was mainly used as a blocker in his time in Stillwater. Along with the Cowboys’ offensive line, he helped pave the way for Ollie Gordon to have a breakout season in 2023.

Although he rarely had the football, he could still make important plays when he did. Cassity had four receptions for 17 receiving yards last season, including a 17-yard catch against Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.

Finishing his career with 14 receptions, Cassity made the most of what would be his final college football game. After not catching any passes in his first three seasons, Cassity had five catches each in 2021 and 2022.

The biggest gain of his career came against TCU in 2022. Against the national runner-up, Cassity caught a 38-yard pass, his only reception of more than 20 yards in his career.

Cassity provided a sense of stability throughout his six seasons at OSU and played in 61 contests. After not playing as a redshirt in 2018, Cassity helped OSU reach a number of milestones.

In Cassity’s career, the Cowboys had two Bedlam victories, made two Big 12 Championship Games and won the Fiesta Bowl to finish the 2021 season. That year was one of two 10-win seasons Cassity was a part of.

Although Cassity is not returning for the 2024 campaign, OSU is returning most of its offensive output from last season. That includes the entire starting offensive line, who will have to step up a bit more to replace the extra push Cassity often provided.
