The Oklahoma State Cowboys had a very interesting season. From a 2-2 start in a season that looked like a bowl game was the ceiling, the Cowboys rallied a five-game win streak to eventually lift themselves in a position to make the Big 12 title game.

While the Cowboys ultimately fell short in the title game against an overpowered Texas Longhorns team, losing 49-21 in blowout fashion as the game never was really all that close.

Still, the season was a success. Turning things around after a 2-2 start to the season was never going to be easy, and taking such an early conference loss could have been demoralizing, but the Cowboys' response was incredible.

After the season turnaround, Oklahoma State has the potential to take plenty of momentum into the next season, which will see a hefty revamp for the Big 12 and college football as a whole -- launching a 12-team playoff format.

The Cowboys ultimately drew a 2019 bowl rematch, playing against Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.

The bowl games don't have the same prestigious feel as it used to. With the transfer portal running rampant, it acts as a game for teams to play their young, upcoming talent as a bulk of players hit the transfer portal.

The Cowboys dealt with this last year, as a good portion of their starters on both sides of the ball transferred out. This year, though, that doesn't seem to be the case for the Cowboys.

"I'm anticipating a large amount of our team playing in this bowl," Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy said earlier this week.

This would be huge for all the returners to continue building momentum off a hectic season and take it into the new Big 12. The Cowboys have the opportunity to capture their tenth win this season while defeating Texas A&M in the rematch from the 2019 season.
