Oklahoma State Running Back Earns All-American Honor from Associated Press

Sophomore running back Ollie Gordon is first consensus All-American in program history since Chuba Hubbard in 2019.

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon racked up another All-American honor on Monday as he was named an AP All-American.

The honor makes him the first consensus All-American in program history since Chuba Hubbard did it in 2019.

Gordon also received honors on Monday from the Football Writers Association and the Walter Camp Football Foundation last Friday.

If Gordon were to get All-American status from the American Football Coaches Association and The Sporting News, he would be OSU's first unanimous All-American since Chubb Hubbard in 2019.

Gordon's selection on Monday adds to an impressive list of accolades and awards for the sophomore, for he also received the Doak Walker Award and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year this season. He was the first OSU running back to win the Doak Walker Award in program history.

Gordon's honors this season are much deserved. He leads the nation in rushing yards with 1,614 rushing yards, averaging over 124 rushing yards per game. He is also No. 2 ranked in the country in all-purpose yards with 1,940.

The sophomore also has 20 rushing touchdowns this season, including five rushing touchdowns against BYU, helping OSU secure a spot in the Big 12 Championship. He was the first Cowboy to score five touchdowns in a game since Barry Sanders.

During the Cowboy's five-game winning streak in the regular season, Gordon was the main contributor in all five games. He had five straight games with over 100 rushing yards, including two straight games with over 200 rushing yards.

Gordon even got some Heisman talk this season, for he finished seventh in voting for the Heisman Trophy.

Gordon and the Cowboys will look to finish on a high note this season when it takes on the Texas A&M Aggies in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX. The contest can be seen on ESPN.
