Portal season has been busy for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys have picked up two commitments in the transfer portal, including defensive back Kobe Hylton.

Hylton has played the last two seasons at UTEP, racking up 145 total tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss in his time with the Miners.

After UTEP parted ways with Dana Dimel, Hylton said it was his time to find a new home.

“It was a tough year for my team,” Hylton said. “What made me jump in was my head coach getting released. I think it’s just time for a fresh start for my last year.”

Hylton said the decision to call Stillwater home next season was an easy one.

“It's like a family feel,” Hylton said. “Two of my (junior college) coaches are on that staff. They pushed in the word for me. Everybody on staff is just fired up to have me.”

Hylton this past season was tremendous for the Miners, collecting 54 tackles and four pass breakups. In his 2022 season, Hylton earned All-Conference USA honorable mention honors after racking up 91 tackles.

Hylton took an official visit before committing to the Cowboys, and he said the environment felt like his old days at Northeastern Oklahoma Community College.

“It's just a sense of comfortability, and making me feel really relaxed,” Hylton said. I can really just play as if I’m home, which it is home.”

Hytlon is ready for the challenge next season at OSU, and he said his love for competition is what drives him every day.

“I’m bringing a lot of tenacity,” Hylton said. “I’m a feisty player. I love to compete. I love to fuel the guys around me.

“I like to say I’m a positive cancer, something that is contagious and spreads around the room but in a positive outcome.”
